Something not working, or an idea? Write to hello@open-paren.dev. I read everything; replies may take a few days.
How does sync work?
Through your own iCloud. Sign in to the same Apple Account on your iPhone and Mac, and keep iCloud turned on for Zyz. There's no Zyz account and no server of mine involved.
Can I lose data?
Zyz is built not to lose anything. Every change is kept, online or off. Deleted things stay in the Trash for 30 days, or until you empty it, and you can restore them from there. Completed things are archived and stay searchable.
What if I edit the same item on two devices?
If you changed different things, both changes are kept. If you changed the same thing differently, Zyz keeps both versions, marks the item, and lets you pick. It never silently chooses for you. (The one exception is the order of a list, which settles on its own.)
How do I get my data out?
On the Mac, open Settings › Backup and choose a folder. Zyz then backs up everything there after each change: plain Markdown, plus a raw data copy. There's no backup on iPhone yet; your data comes out through the Mac.
How do I use it with Claude or another agent?
On the Mac, add Zyz to Claude Code with:
claude mcp add zyz -- /Applications/Zyz.app/Contents/MacOS/Zyz mcp
Other MCP clients take the same command: /Applications/Zyz.app/Contents/MacOS/Zyz mcp. There's nothing to install first, and it runs locally on your Mac. If you'd also like a zyz command in Terminal, Zyz's Settings show how to set it up.
What does it run on?
iPhone with iOS 18 or later, and Mac with macOS 15 or later.
